Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions that I receive.
How long before our wedding should we book a photographer?
It’s recommended that you book your photographer at least 12 months before your wedding date with the bare minimum of 6 months. This allows enough time for engagement sessions and eliminates the stress of last minute preparations. While florists, cake artists, and even caterers can book multiple weddings on a single date, photographers often only book one wedding per weekend, so once that date is booked, it’s gone. All that said, I have booked weddings as close as two weeks away for a December wedding. Don’t hesitate to contact us to see if we are available.
How many weddings do you shoot per year?
I aim to shoot no more than 25-30 weddings per year. Limiting the number allows me to provide excellent service to my clients and keep everything running smoothly so images are delivered in a timely manor.
Do you include the disc of all our images with copyright?
A disc of 300-600 high-resolution, color corrected images is included in all our packages. This includes a limited release for non-profit personal use and for the purposes of printing and sharing of photos. Full copyright remains the property of Amanda Hoffman and Finnrose Photography thus the images can not be used for profit or submitted for publication without our consent.
What is the difference between the color-corrected image that we receive on the disc and a fully retouched photo?
Color-corrected images have had minor retouching which includes correcting white balance (making sure the whites look white) and making minor adjustments to exposure and contrast. A fully retouched photo includes these adjustments with the addition of erasing blemishes, smoothing skin if needed, and the addition of any artistic effects. Fully retouched images are what you will see in prints ordered through me and in your album. Following are some examples of the images in different stages from SOOC (straight out of camera), to color-corrected, and finally, to fully retouched.

Why don’t you fully retouch every image on my disc?
Depending on the image, full retouching can take up to 30 minutes per photo. Multiplying that time over 500 images, this could add up to 250 hours just retouching photos. To make sure you get your images quickly, I just do some minor touch ups and leave extensive edits for those I know will be printed or put into your album. If you are not purchasing and album or prints through me, but would still like to have an image retouched and perfected, there is a $25 fee per image. Minor adjustment such as cropping or changing an image to b&w are done free of charge for up to 25 images.
Are you available to meet in person before we decide to book you?
Absolutely! I would love to take some time with you so we can talk about your wedding. We can meet for coffee, chat, and I can show you some of our beautiful albums. If for some reason I forget to offer when you send an inquiry, just ask and we will set it up.
